Intelligent system monitors real-time traffic offences without human intervention
DUBAI – Dubai Police have unveiled its new Intelligent Traffic System at GITEX Global 2025 at the Dubai World Trade Centre, showcasing a major leap in smart policing technology.
The system, powered entirely by artificial intelligence, identifies and analyses driver behaviour in real time – automatically detecting five types of violations without the need for human monitoring.
Designed to enhance traffic flow and safety, it supports Dubai’s goal of becoming a fully Smart and Safe City.
What makes it smart
Lieutenant Engineer Ahmad Al Hammadi said the system automates several field operations, allowing police officers to focus on strategic tasks.
By providing instant analysis, it saves time and resources while improving decision-making on the road. He noted that the system is “smarter, fairer, and more efficient,” reinforcing Dubai Police’s ongoing commitment to traffic safety and operational excellence.
What it detects
According to Reem Muhammad Ahmad, the AI-driven platform currently identifies five key traffic violations:
- not wearing a seatbelt
- using a mobile phone while driving
- obstructing traffic flow
- stopping in the middle of the road without reason
- failing to maintain a safe distance between vehicles
How it works
The system continuously captures and analyses live footage, displaying real-time data on monitored vehicles and recorded offences. It also generates detailed statistics by hour, day, and year, offering authorities deeper insights into road usage patterns. These smart analytics help improve compliance, enhance emergency response times, and contribute to the emirate’s wider traffic management and safety strategies.
